McKenzie Bight – Gowlland Tod Provincial Park
Hike to McKenzie Bight
For the 2025 Victoria Tango Marathon outdoor adventure, we will take you on a 3.2km hike in a nearby Provincial Park.
McKenzie Bight is a scenic beach area located along the eastern shore of Saanich Arm in Gowlland Tod Provincial Park. The hike to the beach area can be completed via a loop by walking down the wider McKenzie Bight Trail and returning via the steep Cascade Trail past Cascade Falls.
This adventure is included at no cost as part of the marathon pass and includes transportation to and from the trail head.
Friday April 11th 1:00PM-5:00PM
The Bus will depart from the DaVinci Center (195 Bay Street) at 1PM Friday April 11th and leave at about 4PM from Gowlland Tod Park to return to DaVInci Center around 4:30-4:45PM.
IMPORTANT: This activity requires an official pre-registration by March 31st 2024.
Registration will be completed through the PARTICIPANT QUESTIONNAIRE (to be sent as of late February to all confirmed Marathon participants).
ABOUT THE HIKE
Gowlland Tod Provincial Park is a short 30 minutes drive from Victoria
Distance: 3.2km (loop).
Difficulty: McKenzie Bight Trail is Easy , Timberman Trail is Easy/Intermediate
Drop off : The Bus will drop you off at the Trail Head parking lot “A”.
Return: The return will be from the same place as the drop off, parking lot “A”.
This is a loop trail and the return involves a short steeper elevation gain to get to Cascade Falls. There is the option to backtrack the first half of the trail if you prefer saving your legs.
