Bringing the music!

Marathon DJ's

Our 2025 DJ Lineup will be announced soon!

Dan Boccia

The music is what first drew Dan to tango in 2000, and today the music continues to inspire him. He has been dancing and DJing at festivals and marathons throughout North America since 2001 and through these experiences has a deep appreciation for what fuels the dancers.  Dan enjoys interacting with the crowd to inform his selections, which are improvised in the moment, sometimes song by song. He creates an atmosphere in which the dancers can rely on the music and focus their energy on dancing.
We are grateful for Dan’s enthusiasm and contribution to our little Marathon since the very beginning ; it’s a real pleasure to welcoming him back to our DJ line up for a third time.

Michał Shevchenko

Michał has been a DJ for over 14 years. He took his first steps at local milongas in western Poland and later started playing at large events, festivals, marathons all over Poland, further in Europe and beyond. It was an honor for him to play at milongas in Buenos Aires several times during his stays. We are happy to welcome Michał back to VTM for a second time!

“For me, being a DJ at a milonga means being in the background, not in the spotlight. My task is to select music that suits the dancers and creates an atmosphere and energy to embrace and dance.”

Tara Tp

Tara was intrigued and fascinated by golden era tango music with its depth, layers, and intricacy right from the beginning. Having DJed in  marathon, festivals, and encuentros as well as local communities all over the world, Tara has honed her enormous passion for tango music and DJing. She understands and attends to the flow of energy and emotions of the dance floor, with balance of energy and sweetness, focusing on connecting with the dancers and also on the connection between the dancers. Her love for the music is often expressed through playing air instruments at milongas!

Alexis Boileau

Alexis discovers Tango in 2013. A music degree doctorate in classical piano performance he created his own piano-solo arrangements of his favorite tangos and performs them in different tango events ; eventually swapping his piano for a computer to become a tango DJ.  You will find him as the resident Dj at weekly Milonga Le Bisou in Montreal and several other local milongas. Alexis is known for his energetic style and his ability to make a good read of the dance floor. He was also Dj at events such as Bailongo Festival, Borealis Encuentro, Sonemos Marathon, Milonga Arrabalera, Milonga La Capital and more.

Rebecca Rorick Smith

Rebecca’s Tango journey began in 1999 while pursuing her BFA at the University of Oregon. 22 years later and her feet have never stopped dancing!! From 2000 Rebecca has lived and taught within numerous communities in the USA, and around the world. Now, after 5 years teaching in Berlin, she is settled back in Portland, OR. As a teacher Rebecca has always believed in the transformative process of learning Tango and is fueled by the metamorphosis of a student. As a Traditional Tango DJ she strives to bring a warm atmosphere to any Milonga and maybe pull a heart-string now and again. Her focus is on continuity within and between tandas with a wide-ranging appreciation of old and new.
